Customer Review: Decent if you can get for $40-$50 as they were in March 2009

Let me say that i really only use this as a spare battery, not as an inverter...
The internal battery is rated at about 44 watt-hours and it does a decent job putting out AC power- while charging/powering my Samsung netbook i think it transferred over about 30 watt-hours of power, maybe a little less...the problem with this seems to be if you only use the 2 USB power ports, as there must be a fair amount of overhead....using just one USB port and nothing else, i was able to recharge my Samsung myShot cellphone(3.7 volts x 750 mah battery) only about 3 times, which is about the same as my little 4 x AA nimh cheapy "battery extender" cell phone charger(that you can get on ebay for about $6) can manage - and the 4 x AA nimh's only contain about a total of 14 watt-hours of power...
i bought 3 of these back in February and one conked out after about a month, probably because of my fault- if you charge them until the green light goes on and unplug and then plug-in again they will start to charge again but this is probably a mistake if you attempt to do this and you may damage the internal battery or the electronics....the other two are still going strong and i use them probably 5 times a week....
for some reason these were very cheap ($35-$40) around beginning of 2009 and if you can get them at that price they might be a good deal, but at the current ~$80 (as of late August 2009, they are a marginal buy unless you plan to use as a power inverter as well....there is also a Duracell model that seems to be identical to this that gets slightly better reviews, not sure why...
