I bought one of these last year from Amazon. After putting in the oil, it started right up on the second pull. I bought it to replace a small 2-cycle 1,000 watt emergency generator. I had used the 1,000 watter to provide power to run my 1/4 hp furnace and refrigerator (not at same time) during a ice storm power outage. The 2-cycle did the job, but was a hassle mixing the oil and gas, and was probably harder to start than this one. This one is rated at 1400 running watts, and that may be pretty close. A 1,500 watt electric heater will kill it. It will run my 7-1/4" 10 amp electric saw with ease. The 1,000 watter would allow us to run the furnace and a TV, along with a few cfl lights. We would disconnect and run the refrigerator a couple of time a day. And I have to say it performed good.... but was nosier than this one... so this should do the trick if needed. What I do is pull the main breaker and disconnect from the power lines.... then feed power back in through a exterior outlet. Very important to not energize the power lines from your generator. Do not reconnect to the power company prior to removing the generator. We have only lost power for several days twice in 25 years.... so it may never be needed.
